APRIL 2023
"Once upon a time, a young high school girl discovered Frankfurt on her way back from a school trip to Berlin. It was dark, the skyline was illuminated, the skyscrapers shone in the distance and at the end of a street there was a terribly cute medieval tower. Our heroine sacrificed her last Deutsche Mark to buy a postcard and treasure this magical souvenir."
That's how I fell in love with Frankfurt am Main in 1999!
I'm back, and it's time to reveal the secret (but not so much) project that has been keeping me busy for a few weeks now: I'm going to devote the next few months to my passion for Frankfurt and its towers!
I intend to draw each tower in different styles and thus make my small collection. Since January I've been walking around the city to take pictures of my objectives.
the old guard towers at the city exits built in the 15th century
I started with Eschenheimer Turm, the small medieval tower where I drank a coke in the 90s, also the oldest building in Frankfurt with the old ramparts of the city. Here is the result :
Next tower: the Silberturm, or Silver Tower, of the Deutsche Bahn that I already studied in March.
I don't know what this project will bring or what the future holds for me, but I'm having a lot of fun 😊
It may just be a very personal collection of stickers, and in the meantime you can find the Eiffel Tower on Redbubble.
See you soon for the story of Willy B. the project mascot!
