LET'S MEET WILLY B. (EN)

MAY 2023

As promised here is the story of our new mascot: Willy B. der Frankfurter Winddrache (Frankfurt's wind dragon).

I have already mentioned it, the wind does not mess around here, especially in winter when it's already cold, it has room enough to blow between the towers and along the river.
With my artist friend Ouissem, we even gave it a name and the beginning of a story.

As usual I didn't need more to start drawing it!
I had to define the size of a dragon compared to a tower, its color and its character (it's a clever little jerk).

Number 4 wins!

And then one day during a walk, at the foot of the Goetheturm, what a SURPRISE!

Wait what? Is that you Willy? Really...? Oh no...

We followed the path of the labyrinth to discover... Willy's mailbox??? I still don't know what that is but for a moment I thought Willy really existed!

Willy can appear anywhere

Now when I run along the Main and the wind blows a little too hard and my cap flies away, I laugh, what a joyful pranker Willy is!

A LA RENCONTRE DE WILLY B.

MAI 2023

APRIL 2023

Frankfurt from the Goetheturm in the South

"Once upon a time, a young high school girl discovered Frankfurt on her way back from a school trip to Berlin. It was dark, the skyline was illuminated, the skyscrapers shone in the distance and at the end of a street there was a terribly cute medieval tower. Our heroine sacrificed her last Deutsche Mark to buy a postcard and treasure this magical souvenir."

That's how I fell in love with Frankfurt am Main in 1999!

Since 1999 (top left) the collection has grown!

I'm back, and it's time to reveal the secret (but not so much) project that has been keeping me busy for a few weeks now: I'm going to devote the next few months to my passion for Frankfurt and its towers!

I intend to draw each tower in different styles and thus make my small collection. Since January I've been walking around the city to take pictures of my objectives.

Of the oldest... (Eschenheimer Turm in the center of the city)

Bockenheimer Warte, Gallus Warte, Friedberger Warte and Sachsenhauser Warte
the old guard towers at the city exits built in the 15th century

To the most recent, or not even finished yet!

I started with Eschenheimer Turm, the small medieval tower where I drank a coke in the 90s, also the oldest building in Frankfurt with the old ramparts of the city. Here is the result :

Eschenheimer Turn in 4 styles and 4 different views:
1. flat front view, 2. semi-realistic oblique perspective,
3. cartoon isometric perspective and 4. top view in pixel art!

Next tower: the Silberturm, or Silver Tower, of the Deutsche Bahn that I already studied in March.
I don't know what this project will bring or what the future holds for me, but I'm having a lot of fun 😊

It may just be a very personal collection of stickers, and in the meantime you can find the Eiffel Tower on Redbubble.

See you soon for the story of Willy B. the project mascot!
